The Basics

What: A password cracking contest sponsored by KoreLogic.

Where: DEFCON 22 at the Rio in Las Vegas.

When: The main contest lasted 48 hours:
11:59:59 PM PDT Thursday Aug 7 - 11:59:59 PM PDT Saturday Aug 9, 2014

Who: Teams with at least one team member attending the conference.

Why: To help push the envelope of password cracking techniques / methodologies and win a prize while you are at it.

Winning: There were prize pools for a "Pro" class and a "Street" class of competitor.

The contest has ended. Congratulations, and thank you to all who participated!

The final results are:

1st place Pro Division ($600): hashcat with 1,844,066 total points.

2nd place Pro Division ($300): InsidePro with 1,642,556 total points.

3rd place Pro Division ($100): RalphWiggumAllStars with 585,618 total points.

1st place Street Division: cmu with 363,280 total points.
